0/28

0/28 is the amount of tournaments I have cashed in the last 2.5 weeks. This is basically the reason why I haven't updated at all recently. I know it seems like I don't make a blog post unless I am doing well, which is mostly true, but there is a reason.

1. I can't stand hearing or reading bad beat stories, and I never want to tell one again, so I'm going to keep them out of my blog.

2. My new philosophy on poker is to always be positive. Almost every person I know that seems unlucky, always has the attitude and feeling like they get it worse then everyone else. For some reason, thinking that way, makes it happen. It's like when your on a bad run, you feel like you are destined to lose every hand, and it seems like you keep getting ridiculous bad beats over and over again. You continually believe they are going to happen, and they do. The opposite is true when you are running good. You believe you are going to win your races, hit your draw, and for some reason, you do.

So when things are going badly, I try no to focus on it, or let it bother me. The only reason I am posting this today, is because I think it's pretty funny that I haven't cashed in 28 tournaments in a row, and I want to make light of it. Am I letting it bother me, not at all. Aside from a couple small things, I feel as good about my game as ever, and I know it's only a matter of time before I take another tournament down, I just have to keep playing my best.

I think part of the reason that I haven't been doing as well is because I haven't been as focused as I should have. I just haven't been in the grove that I was in for February. I have been getting a little over aggressive in spots, and my reads have been a little off. It's not a big deal at all though, and for some reason I have a good feeling about tonight.

I'm going to be playing the $55 rebuy, $55 25k guaranteed, $11 rebuy, $300, and 22 rebuy. Hopefully I will get lucky and cash in one of them ;-). Seriously though, I might just take the 300 down tonight, we will have to see.

Dissapointments

Well the last three days have been filled with huge let downs. Two days ago I finished 21st in the 162, and 16th in the 22 rebuy. Yesterday I made the final table of the $109 first in chips. I had 2/1 over the player in 2nd. Somehow I managed to finish in 9th place. Talk about the joke ft of a life time. Looking back I don't think I did anything that was out of line, I just kept getting in weird spots that I couldn't avoid losing chips. Today was also really bad. I just busted 36th in the 215 second chance for something like $800, when first was 52k. That was really disappointing, and even more when you combine it with my 16th place finish in another $109.

If I had just finished well in one of those five tournaments it would have been a great score. I am not worried at all though, as I am making it deep in big buy in tourney's every day, and it feels great. I am really happy with how I am playing, and it shouldn't be long before another big score.

22 Rebuy

Since coming back from TS I have probably played about 10 tourney's. The one that was the most annoying was the $300 tourney on Wednesday. I built up a huge stack early on, and play an absolutely monster pot with 77 on a K72 rainbow board. The average stack was about 5k and this pot was about 28k. He had AK, and it came turn A river K. That would have put me in fantastic shape to go deep in that tourney.

Yesterday I played the $22 rebuy and finally had a good score in it. Before the tournament even started I said to Galen I think I'll win the 22 rebuy tonight. I really like this tourney, as the players are good, but I seem to fair well against them, and I always seem to go deep. Yesterday I made the ft and ran ridiculously good picking up AA three times, and winning big pots all three times. When we got to heads up things changed though.

This guy was a COMPLETE donk. I mean he would never fold, and when he bet it would be 5x the pot. I never seemed to pick up a hand when I needed it. I had a chance to end it on a Qh9h6d board when I had Kh4h. He somehow called off all his chips with 95 and held up in the race. After that it was down hill. I tried to grind it out but eventually I shoved with 55 and ran into his KK. It was really annoying to lose to this donkey heads up, but sometimes it's impossible I guess. I am still happy with the 5.4k score, and I'm going to keep at it.

Had a lot of fun in TS. Mostly coming from laughing at Lacasse from having the worst luck I have ever seen. First his credit card gets blocked and he gets harassed from the security guards for not paying from his room. Then he gets accused and interrogated by state police for looking identical as someone who stole a laptop in the tournament he was playing in. Luckily Kristen knew who the guy was, and was able to clear Lacasse. This was lucky because I said to Lacasse as we were waiting in the police office, I have to get back to gambling, and if they ask me I'm going to have to say it was you. This was by far the worst bad beat I had seen all week. And for holding him for 4 hours for no reason, they gave him the poker rate on his hotel room on Sunday. And let's not forget the $18 free meal at the Emeralds.

I didn't end up playing in the $500 tourney. The night before I got a little drunk and played 2/4 limit. This was by far the most fun I had playing poker for the trip. The average stack at the table was about $30. So I figured a good number to buy in for would be $1000. I think Lacasse bought in for $500. I ran about as bad as you can in the game, capped every single hand blind. The rule we came up with was to look on the turn. I chopped 2 pots in 2 hours, which got extremely expensive. I ended up losing $700 in the game, which I am guessing is an all time record in that game. Although I lost the money, it was still soooooo much fun, and it's a rule that I have to do this once every time I go to turning stone. Lacasse broke about even, but he tipped over $400, which was absolutely crazy. We made a lot of friends in that game, and they were all eager to play with us again, to say the least.

I won a sat. in to the 1k event and ended up playing. I felt like I played extremely well, and the structure was absolutely amazing. By far the best structure I have ever played in. It started with about 180 players at 10am. They decided they would play down to 15 players, which was in the money. It ended up going until 2am which was just nuts. I made it to day 2 with 70k in chips sitting just above average. However on the next day things were going really bad. Every spot I got in was tough, and would either get out flopped, or when I tried to pick up the blinds someone would come over the top. I was committed to call an all in with Ad9d, and I lost to AJ. Then I picked up AK and got out flopped. Then I picked up 55 in the bb when I had about 35k in chips. The cut off who was the big stack who was raising half the hands 3xed and the puck flat called. It was an easy shove for me and a great time to squeeze. I would have done the same move with anything decent, because the only hand I think I can get called by is the cut off picking up a huge hand, or the puck having AA or KK, because I don't think he flats with anything else that is good enough to call me call in with. Sadly for me he did have AA, and I busted in 12th for 2.3k. This was tough to take, as first was 55k, and I really though I had a good shot. Although it was really disappointing, I was still happy with the way I played. I felt like I played great small ball poker, and I was only all in twice in the entire tourney. Our friend BillIvey ended up finishing 2nd, so congrats to him.

On Monday, Yves, Krissy, and me played the 2/5 game that eventually turned into a 5/5 game. We seriously absolutely crushed the game. Yves cashed out 1700, Krissy cashed out 2900, and I cashed out 2500. Krissy made the most disgusting call I have seen in a very long time, which you will be able to read about in her blog soon.

As for now it's back to the online grind. I'll be back.........

TS Updade

Played the $300 today and busted fairly early. I think I was playing pretty well. Here are a few interesting hands:

25/50 level sb 3x's I call with 6c7c. Flop KK4 two diamonds. He bet out 300 I called. Turn 9, he checks I bet 400 he folds.

Same level, ep raises to 200 2 callers and I just called in the bb with 1010. Flop J32 rainbow. I check he bet 300 I called. Turn was a 4 I checked he bet 500. I was close to folding, but he just looked really weak. I decided to call. River was a blank, check check and I was good.

After this I just kept missing the flops, and not really picking up any hands. I tried to stay aggressive, but it wasn't working at my table. I ended up getting down to 12bb's when this hand happened:

Cut off limps for 200, button who is raising about a 1/3 of the hands makes it 700. I shoved in the bb with 1010. The cut off limp raises to 6000. The button calls. Flop is 662 they go check check. (wtf?) Turn is a K, cut off shoves for 800 button calls. Cut off had KQ, button had AK. GG me.

Anyway, I hope to do well in the 500 tomorrow. As for tonight I plan on getting drunk and playing 1/3 limit against all the grinders.

Be back tomorrow........
